GBI Wohnungsbau

GBI Wohnungsbau GmbH is a subsidiary of the non-profit Moses Mendelssohn Foundation. With a fine sense for the needs and wishes of current and future users and a passion for sustainable construction, we design and develop sophisticated and long-lasting residential properties at selected locations in Germany. We attach great importance not only to functionality, aesthetics and comfort but also to the application of high-quality materials and perfect craftsmanship.

GBI Wohnungsbau GmbH is in charge of subsidised and privately financed housing, SMARTments student and SMARTments living projects.

Subsidised housing

We offer ambitious concepts combining subsidised building activities with freely financed housing construction or age-appropriate living. This prevents the emergence of socially single-sided neighbourhoods. It is important for us to cooperate closely with municipalities, counties and state governments to facilitate reliable planning of construction projects. The advantage there is that the entire project can be managed by the developer - with a guarantee that costs and deadlines will be met.

Our subsidised housing projects include projects in places like Herzogenaurach, Würzburg, Fürth, Langenhagen near Hanover, or existing housing stock in Simmern and Eschwege.

Privately financed housing

Our Group of Companies stands for ambitious and challenging projects. In the past, GBI Wohnungsbau has often proved that it can successfully implement such top-level projects. We convert industrial sites; 73 apartments were built in a former industrial yard in Berlin's borough of Prenzlauer Berg. We build on long-vacant sites and areas with strict public constraints, such as the challenging residential project on Tegeler See island in the German capital.

In Berlin's Kaiserin-Augusta-Allee, we have completed the construction of attractive freehold apartments by early 2018. Two apartment houses are currently being built in the Eltersdorf 70 district of Erlangen in tranquil surroundings.

Student housing

With the non-profit FDS Foundation, we now operate 22 halls of residences with 3,777 apartments under the name SMARTments student throughout Germany, both in smaller cities such as Erlangen and Kaiserslautern and in major cities such as Hamburg and Berlin. The first houses of the brand in Austria are built In Vienna and Graz. SMARTments student offers students and trainees central locations of residences and modern apartments. In addition to furnishing and an individual kitchenette in each apartment, crockery and linen can also be provided. The students are looked after by the house manager on site in case of technical questions.

Micro-apartments

With sizes ranging from 30 to 65 square metres spread over one to two rooms, these apartment types offer sufficient space for tenants who wish to stay in one place for longer periods of time. In addition to the central location, high-quality furnishings, concierge service plus a balcony or terrace will enhance the residents' quality of life. SMARTments living will be developed in central locations in the cities of Hamburg and Wiesbaden.
