Preparatory underway in Düsseldorf's city centre

Project developer GBI is building three hotels and an underground car park right next to the main railway station on Düsseldorf's Harkortstrasse.

"We are now submitting Planning Application and would like to commence the actual construction work in spring 2019," says GBI Senior Project Developer Peter Gerding. The project is an ensemble of several properties that will significantly upgrade the area around the central station of North Rhine-Westphalia's state capital in the coming years. The "Gateway to the City" and at the same time its business image will be thoroughly revamped. An Adina, a Premier Inn, a Hampton by Hilton and an APCOA underground car park will be built that can be used by all hotel guests and visitors to the city centre.

The 17,000 square metre construction site borders directly on the station compound on one side. On the opposite side, there is a building of the Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW (BLB), a real estate company of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. A few days ago, the excavators moved in on that side - because large amounts of soil have to be removed there to compensate for the level difference on the site.
