Presentation by Thomas Geisel, Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf, at EXPO REAL in Munich
GBI AG had a successful start at the property trade fair. One of the largest GBI projects was put before the public by the city of Düsseldorf.
On the second day of the fair, Thomas Geisel, Lord Mayor of Düsseldorf, presented the most important property development projects in the state capital of North-Rhine Westphalia. In his speech, he made special reference to GBI’s project at the main railway station, illustrating the new quarter at Harkortstrasse / Mintropplatz on the 17,000 sq m area of the former car-loading station.
There, the planning is for combining four buildings including a hotel, serviced apartments and student living with a large underground car park. The explicit intention is to convey to travellers a positive impression of the area around the train station. Five architects’ offices had participated in the multi-stage design competition. The designs of greeen! architects were selected by the jury. Construction will start in 2018. GBI as the project developer will see to an "upgrading and a revitalisation of the entire quarter". Visitors can view the model at GBI’s trade fair booth C 2.022.
