The 86 SMARTments student apartments are rented out by the non-profit FDS Foundation, which, like GBI, is part of the Moses Mendelssohn Foundation. All units in Berlin Karlshorst are fully furnished and have a fully inclusive rent. Therefore, all students need to move in is a suitcase. "Move in and start living" is consequently the motto of SMARTments student. The fully inclusive rent includes not only the furniture but also all operating costs such as electricity, water, heating and internet.
